Praying Without Reading the Bible? Is It Enough?
Many are praying but don't have time to read the word of God with various reasons. What is the best way?
Praying Without Reading the Bible? It’s Not Enough.
Is it okay to pray without grounding yourself in God’s Word?
I believe it's not okay, and here’s why.
Think of it this way: Prayer is us talking to God. But when we open the Bible and meditate on His Word, that is the exact moment God is talking to us.
Do you realize how many people love to talk to God in prayer but never actually stick around to hear His response?
We close our prayer with "amen," then get up, and leave. Our prayer life quickly becomes a one-sided religious routine rather than a relationship. And then we wonder why our prayers feel powerless.
We need to build a habit of hearing God, not just talking to Him. Yes, God speaks in many ways. And yes, some people wait around hoping for a direct, audible encounter. But He doesn’t always operate that way.
That’s why knowing His written Word accurately is so vitally important. It is just as powerful and authoritative as if He were speaking directly to you right now.
Remember, God isn't the only one talking to you. All other spirits can talk to us, too. The Bible warns us in 2 Corinthians 11:14 that "the devil can disguise himself as an angel of light."
So when we hear an inner voice or impression, we need to know who is talking. If God is the source, whatever He says will never contradict His written Word.
Now you see how risky it is to only pray but neglect the understanding of the Bible.
